5TH ANNUAL SENSORY FRIENDLY HALLOWEEN CHILDREN'S CONCERT
Welcome to the LWSO’s 5th annual Sensory Friendly Halloween Children’s Concert. This is a concert that means so much to all of us and when we realized we wouldn’t be able to have this concert live and in person, we worked really hard to find a way to bring it to you while making sure all of our musicians and everyone working on this, would be safe.
IN THE PAST & IN THE FUTURE
When we have this concert in person, we have an instrument ‘petting zoo’ where we have a variety of instruments available to try out. Since we aren’t able to do that, many of the musicians demonstrated their instruments and some told stories about why they chose their instrument, or how their instrument chose them. When demonstrating a higher note, we warn you so you can cover your ears if you need to. The strings, brass, and woodwinds each tell stories of how composers use those sounds from each of those instruments to help convey what’s happening in a movie or a song. Maybe it is the strings to help build suspense, a trumpet to indicate something important is about to happen or a woodwind to help convey a bird flying. We hope you spend a few minutes getting to know our musicians and learn a little about their instruments.
During the concert, we usually have a Costume Parade, so if you want to participate in a sort of virtual costume parade, take a picture and tag us on Instagram in your costume or maybe your dog in a costume or even of you watching the concert!
Please enjoy our concert and feel free to share with friends and family. We hope it brings you some joy and light. If you would like to keep in touch with LWSO, sign up for our monthly newsletter here.
We look forward to being together once again.
